SMH has extensive experience in providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) to our long-term acute care hospitals, skilled nursing home facilities, interfacility transports, and physician groups. Each ALS ambulance is staffed with a certified EMT-B and EMT– Intermediate or paramedic trained in AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support and AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Advanced Life Support Transport (ALS)
Each team member is also trained in Emergency Vehicle Operation Courses (EVOC). In addition to meeting all BLS requirements, all ALS ambulances include intravenous therapy and endotracheal/esophageal intubations for patients. If a paramedic is assigned to an ALS unit cardiac monitoring will be available with Defibrillator with 12 lead EKG, ETCO2 as well.
